Celebrating our Volunteers

Celebrating our Volunteers at Evergreen Sleaford.

Evergreen Sleaford has nearly 14 years successfully served not just Sleaford, but an area from Metheringham to Folkingham, and Caythorpe to East Heckington, that's a 10-mile radius of the town

The aim of Evergreen Sleaford, a charity, is for volunteers to form a one-to-one friendship with an elderly person who may be lonely and isolated. Giving one’s time is such a little thing to ask, but to the service users it means so much.

The time given by Evergreen Sleaford volunteer Befrienders is something money can’t buy and in recognition Evergreen Sleaford held an afternoon tea for its volunteer Befrienders and Trustees on Saturday 6th June  co-inciding with the end of National Volunteers Week 2026.

A wonderful time was had by all, eating scrumptious sandwiches, delicious homemade cakes and strawberries and cream.  Stories were shared about why volunteering for Evergreen Sleaford means so much to the volunteers such as “having a sense of purpose, providing comfort following bereavement, making new friends and bringing joy”!

The number of people needing Evergreen Sleaford’s service is increasing and, unfortunately, we do not have enough volunteers to meet the need. It's such a little thing to ask, but it means so much, so if you have time to give and want to make new friends, please get in touch.
